The oncology nurse practitioner is a master's prepared advanced practice nurse who provides holistic, comprehensive patient care as part of the consistency within the me dical care manage me nt team and consolidates/coordinates optimal resources for acceptable patient/family outco me s. Advanced practice in oncology nursing includes, but is not limited to, comprehensive health assess me nt, diagnosis, initiation of appropriate care and treat me nt of a variety of responses throughout the cancer continuum, and continuous evaluation of outco me s. It also includes me dical and nursing domain of care. Will be able to manage acute and chronic illnesses and promote wellness in the prevention, early detection and treat me nt of cancer. Role models and supports a participative work environ me nt.
