The manager ensures quality patient care is delivered consistent with established contemporary standards for patient care services. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice. The nurse manager maintains an effective and competent staff, using a variety of means. This person exercises judgement in identifying and resolving issues and problems. The manager applies both clinical and operational management skills to meet the established quality, patient satisfaction, and financial targets of the unit. This person accomplishes all of the above in collaboration and partnership with physicians .
