Certification of completion of structured courses for Operating Room Technicians required. National Certification desired. Minimum of one (1) years previous experience in similar hospital setting, experience in all specialties preferred. Technical skills/knowledge necessary to function in O.R. environs with sophisticated technology/equipment. Ability to suture/tie desirable. Knowledge of Universal Precautions. Preparation, set up and clean up of operating rooms for elective surgical procedures. Accountable for aseptic technique for self and others. Assists all members of the surgical team, as directed, in patient care activities. When assigned, serves as first or second assistant intraoperatively by retracting tissue, providing hemostasis and performing wound closure under the supervision of surgeon.
