A Registered Nurse practicing in the Emergency Department is responsible and accountable for managing and providing appropriate care to the Emergency Room patient population through the complete life cycle under the direction of the ED physician. The ED RN must be able, through critical thinking, to function independently, supervise others and provide continued patient care utilizing the nursing process. The ED RN will provide care in life-threatening situations using the standing orders and the policies and procedures that are written and hospital approved. The ED RN will act as patient advocate. The ED RN will responsible for obtaining and maintaining the required certifications as listed in the job qualifications.
